Patta and Nike released the Air Max 1 "Monarch" on October 15, 2021, at a retail price of €160. Patta, the streetwear label from Amsterdam, has a long history with the Air Max 1, and the "Monarch" was part of its series of collaborations on the model. The Air Max 1 first released in 1987 and introduced the visible Air unit, which made it one of the most important running shoes in Nike's history.
