About Nike Air Max 1 releases
When the Air Max 1 launched in 1987, Tinker Hatfield showed the Air unit for the first time through a window in the midsole. The idea was inspired by the Centre Pompidou in Paris and changed sneakers for good.
The anniversary is celebrated every year on 26 March, Air Max Day. Here you'll find every upcoming Air Max 1 in Europe, from OG colorways to collaborations, followed by the full archive.
In Europe, most Nike Air Max 1 pairs launch on Nike SNKRS, the brand store and selected boutiques, and limited editions usually go through raffles. Each release page on SNKREMPIRE lists every store and open raffle with direct links, the style code, the euro retail price and the drop time in CET or CEST.
FAQ
What is Air Max Day?
Nike celebrates the Air Max line every year around 26 March, the launch date of the Air Max 1 in 1987. Expect special releases and retros around that date.
What is the difference between the Air Max 1 and the Air Max 1 '86?
The '86 versions recreate the very first prototype shape, with a bigger Air window and slightly different proportions. The regular Air Max 1 follows the later production shape.
Where can I buy Air Max 1 releases?
Nike SNKRS, Nike.com and many European sneaker boutiques, which also have their own exclusives. All stores for each pair are on its release page.
Is the Air Max 1 comfortable for everyday wear?
It was built as a running shoe, so it is light and well cushioned for walking. Most people wear it in their usual size.
