New Balance has shared the first official product images of the 990v7 Made in USA, and the opening colorway goes exactly where fans of the line expected it to: grey. The ‘Kool Grey’ pair (U990GR7) launches on 6 November 2026 in unisex sizing via New Balance and selected retailers.
The seventh chapter of the 990
The 990v7 follows the 990v6, which carried the line through several years of mainline drops and collaborations. Instead of reinventing the formula, the new version refines it. The shape stays recognizably 990, with a layered upper, a chunky stacked midsole and the familiar heritage details on the tongue and heel.
Suede, mesh and soft pastel accents
The upper mixes two shades of grey suede with grey mesh. A lighter suede wraps the toe area, the eyestays, the heel and the lower side panels, while a darker grey frames the midfoot. Breathable mesh fills the toe box and the sides.
The standout detail is the ‘N’ logo. It comes with a ridged texture, a light blue fill and a soft yellow outline. Those two pastel tones return on the midsole, where a pale yellow base and a light blue strip break up the grey. Cream laces finish the look.

Heritage details
A leather tongue label carries the classic ‘new balance 990’ lettering, with a small red ‘v7’ tab on the lace loop. Inside, the insole reads ‘Established in 1982’, a nod to the year the original 990 arrived. At the back, a ‘made in U.S.A.’ badge sits on the heel tab.
