On March 19, 2021, the ASICS Gel-Lyte III "Backstreet of Japan" Ivory released for €120, with several stores starting their drops at midnight. It came out on the same day as the Aqua version. The Gel-Lyte III first released in 1990 and is known for its split tongue. ASICS started with Kihachiro Onitsuka in Japan in 1949 and took its current form in 1977, when Onitsuka, GTO and Jelenk merged into one company. Second chance options were available for those who missed the first drop. Today, the Ivory version is mostly available on marketplaces such as KLEKT.
