The ASICS Gel-Lyte III OG "Kobe Beef" released on March 1, 2020, with a retail price of €220. The Gel-Lyte III first came out in 1990 and became known for its split tongue, which made it a favorite for collaborations and special colorways. The "Kobe Beef" name pointed to the famous Japanese beef, a fitting theme for a Japanese brand. ASICS itself goes back to 1949, when Kihachiro Onitsuka started making sports shoes in Japan. The pair was offered by ASICS and through raffles. Today, the "Kobe Beef" is mostly available on marketplaces such as KLEKT.
