NIKE was founded in 1964 in Beaverton, Oregon, by Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman - but not yet under the name NIKE, but as "Blue Ribbon Sports". It was only a little later, in the 1970s, that the company was renamed NIKE , incidentally in reference to the Greek goddess of victory Nike. This makes sense, because NIKE stands for performance and sporting ambition like hardly any other brand.

NIKE stands for performance and sporting ambition like hardly any other brand.
This has also been the key to success, because NIKE became really big when it was decided to push the brand through testimonials and to sponsor various athletes. Endorsers have included sports stars such as Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. But also Rapper and other superstars are under contract with Nike , e.g. Travis Scott.

Many of the achievements we take for granted today can be attributed to NIKE. For example NIKE Air - Chambers with pressurised gas in the midsole of some NIKE Sneaker. Examples are the NIKE Air Force 1 and the NIKE Air Max models.
